Skills utilized by employees here:
The ability to document and maintain case records.
Human relations skills
Sufficient to represent the Minnesota Department of Corrections or county in the community; maintain effective working relationships; and work with a diverse and adversarial/resistive offender population.
Oral and written communication skills
Sufficient to speak in public, testify in court, and write clear and concise reports.
The ability to make case decisions, set priorities and schedule/use time effectively.
Must have and maintain a valid driver's license.
Experience completing risk/needs assessments.
Evidence Based Practices (EBP)
Training or experience in Evidence Based Practices (EBP) such as cognitive/behavioral programming, motivational interviewing, and transition from prison to community (TPC).

Corrections Officer
To work as a Corrections Officer in the institution you need a high school diploma or GED along with at least one year of job work experience in any field.
Corrections Agent
To work as a Corrections Agent you need a Bachelor's Degree in a field related to Corrections along with an internship with the DOC or two years work experience in the field of Corrections.
